According to an article in the current FiberArts magazine, the paper that Yuko Nishimura uses to fold her wall reliefs is so abrasive that it has worn away her finger prints, causing a stir with airport security when she tried to enter the United States earlier this year for her first solo exhibit at the Fuller Craft Museum.

I like Julien’s idea of thinking about tools… Our work is driven by digital workstations and the usage of Photoshop, Illustrator, Silverlight, Copy & Paste and other digital widgets. Julien Vallée describes his hand made tools on a wallpaper. Inspiring! …and interesting how he incorporates the digital stuff as well.

I make functional pottery for daily use in the home and for those special occasions that life has in store for us from time to time. I use a candy colored palette for the nostalgic reaction that resonates with the user of my pieces. Candy, cakes, pastries and parties have strongly influenced my work and are the basic source material for inspiration.

Flowerscopes have two turning wheels filled with flowers from my own garden!  I've hand sculpted Kato polymer clay roses to adorn the scope body.  The roses seem like fine porcelain clay with lovely color blendings.  Brass Butterflies have been soldered and antiqued and form the base of the scope.  

This decorating butterflies is made from beer cans. The design comes from Paul Villinski. Made from beer cans gathered off the streets of New York City, Paul patiently crafted these butterflies one by one and hand made stunning wall designs. We are not aware of how the process goes exactly, but we really like the end result.
